Leveraging Open Source Library Guides – KohaCon 2018

20 October 2018 – This post was updated to include the YouTube recording of my presentation made by ByWater Solutions. Thanks, ByWater!

At KohaCon 2018, I am presenting on how Lancaster Seminary’s library integrates Koha with SubjectsPlus. The full title of the presentation is, “Leveraging Open Source Library Guides: Integrating Koha and Subjects Plus.” The presentation will be at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time, September 11, 2018.

SubjectsPlus is a powerful open source platform for creating library guides and managing electronic resources. It functions like a content management system with the ability to publish content as well as manage staff listings, frequently asked questions, and user feedback. Through API, RSS, custom “pluslets,” and more, it is possible to integrate SubjectsPlus and Koha in ways that greatly enhance the patron experience and improve accessibility to resources. This session will introduce SubjectsPlus, demonstrate integrations that are possible with current features of both Koha and SubjectsPlus, and present some ideas for future development to make the two platforms more interoperable.
